New virus that causes 'staggering disease' in cats found in US

A deadly disease affecting cats, both domestic and wild, has been identified for the first time in the US. Last year, a female mountain lion in Colorado was found with severe muscle weakness and skin lesions, ultimately succumbing to the illness. Scientists have identified cause as a variant of the rustrela virus, known as RusV, which leads to "staggering disease".
