New way coronaviruses can get into human cells discovered

An international team of researchers has identified a new way coronaviruses can enter human cells, a study published in Nature showed. Scientists found that a coronavirus found in East African heart-nosed bats, CcCoV-KY43, can bind to CEACAM6, a protein widely expressed in the human lung, which is a previously unknown entry point for coronaviruses.
