New WiFi tracking method can identify people without a smartphone: Study

Researchers at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology have developed a method that uses ordinary WiFi devices to identify people even when they are not carrying smartphones. The method analyses radio signals generated as WiFi devices communicate with each other in a person's surroundings. Researchers said this creates patterns comparable to camera images, which can be used to identify individuals.
