New York City to get its first female police commissioner

New York City Mayor-elect Eric Adams named Keechant Sewell as the city's next police commissioner, making her the first woman to head the US' largest police department. Sewell, who currently serves as Nassau County Chief of Detectives, will be the third black person to run New York City Police Department (NYPD). She'll begin when Adams takes office on January 1.
