New York co-names street Punjab Avenue in honour of the community

The 101st Avenue in New York City's Richmond Hill area has been co-named Punjab Avenue in honour of Punjabi community. The motion for the renaming was moved by NYC Council member Adrienne Adams in view of the community's strong presence there. Speaking at the inauguration, Adams said, "It's important that we continue to celebrate the multicultural mosaic of our city!"
