New York declares statewide emergency over measles outbreak
New York’s governor has declared a statewide disaster emergency over a measles outbreak, the first such declaration in US since a nationwide rise in cases began in 2025. New York has recorded 108 confirmed measles cases in 2026, while more than 3,800 cases have been reported nationwide. Two doses of the MMR vaccine remain the standard protection against the virus.
