New York imposes one-year pause on new data centres, 1st US state to do so

New York on Tuesday imposed a moratorium on new data centres, mandating a one-year statewide pause on construction of such facilities, becoming the first US state to do so. Governor Kathy Hochul said it was her responsibility to take action as data centre development threatens natural resources. This will pause the permitting process for data centres having over 50-MW capacity.
