New York may lease 'hidden' vaults under Brooklyn Bridge to cover $6 billion budget gap

US' New York City Council has proposed leasing out "hidden" vaults under the iconic Brooklyn Bridge as part of its plan to cover the $6 billion budget gap. The council said it could generate an additional $17 million/year in rent, considering Manhattan's average retail rent is $109.61/square foot. The vaults are reportedly being used as "glorified" car parking spaces currently.
