New York Times sues Perplexity AI for 'illegal' copying of content

The New York Times filed a lawsuit against Aravind Srinivas-led Perplexity AI on Friday, alleging the startup copied, distributed, and displayed millions of its articles without permission to power its generative AI products. Perplexity AI faces similar accusations from other publishers. The Times also claimed its AI products generated fabricated content and falsely attributed it to the newspaper.
