New Zealand recognises sacred Mount Taranaki as a legal person

New Zealand has granted legal personhood status to a sacred mountain named 'Mount Taranaki', also known as 'Taranaki Maunga'. The move was taken as the mountain is considered an ancestor by indigenous Maori people. A governing body will act as its voice and face, with members from Maori tribes and government. They'll seek to protect mountain's health, restore traditional practices.
