New Zealand to introduce bill banning social media for children under 16

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said the government will introduce a bill to ban children under 16 from using social media. Platforms would have to take reasonable steps to verify users' ages, using methods including existing account data, facial technology and digital IDs. Non-compliant platforms could face fines of up to 10% of their global revenue.
