Newcastle United defeated Southampton FC 2-1 in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final, resulting in Newcastle reaching the tournament's final for the first time in 47 years having progressed 3-1 on aggregate. Sean Longstaff scored a brace with Southampton striker Ché Adams recording a goal as well. Newcastle had won the first leg 1-0.
