IAS officer Naresh Pal Gangwar's appointment as Higher Education Secretary amid student protests has sparked backlash from Opposition. Three family members of Gangwar, who previously served as Secretary of Animal Husbandry, had allegedly received horticultural subsidies worth ₹1.6 crore under a government scheme over five years, reported IE in June. The project was related to cucumber cultivation.
