Newly identified wolf snake found on Great Nicobar Island

A new snake species, Lycodon irwini, has been discovered on Great Nicobar Island. Named after wildlife expert Steve Irwin, the sleek, glossy-black wolf snake species has a slender body and a long tapering tail. An adult from this non-venomous species can grow up to 1.2 metres and primarily feeds on small reptiles.
