Newly-found giant salamander species is world's largest amphibian

Scientists have discovered a new species of giant salamander, believed to be the world's largest amphibian. Chinese giant salamanders were previously thought to be a single species until three genetic lineages were found. The newly-found species, Andrias sligoi, is thought to be the largest of all three after analysis of a 74-year-old specimen that once lived at the London Zoo.
