NFHS-6 reveals decline in iodised salt usage in Ludhiana
National Family Health Survey-6 (NFHS-6) has revealed a decline in iodised salt consumption in Punjab’s Ludhiana, with the proportion of households consuming it falling from 94.9% in the last survey to 88.7%. Iodised salt is a critical source of iodine, a mineral needed to produce thyroid hormone that regulates growth, metabolism and development, and helps prevent iodine deficiency disorders.
