NHAI takes step to make highways sustainable, adopts low-cost bamboo barriers

NHAI is adopting bamboo barriers as a quick, cost-effective, and eco-friendly solution for sustainable highways, helping reduce impact during crashes. These barriers, which can be deployed rapidly, are biodegradable, support local livelihoods, and contribute to a lower carbon footprint. The world's first 200-metre-long bamboo crash barrier was installed on the Vani Warora Highway in Maharashtra.
