NHAI to pay ₹1.8 cr over landslide after refusal citing 'Act of God'
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) agreed to pay ₹1.8 crore compensation to an orchard owner in Shimla after a landslide triggered by a four-laning project damaged 440 apple trees. NHAI had earlier refused to pay for the damages, calling the landslide an "act of god". It will also purchase 1.5 bighas of his land that was damaged by debris.
