NHRC takes cognizance of minor girls trafficking from MP, Rajasthan to Maharashtra

The NHRC has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report alleging trafficking of minor girls from MP-Rajasthan border districts to Maharashtra. Parents allegedly sell daughters to middlemen for ₹3–5 lakh due to poverty; girls are later sold for ₹35–40 lakh in Maharashtra's sex trade. NHRC has issued notices to Chief Secretaries and DGPs of three states, seeking reports within two weeks.
