Nick Reiner avoids death penalty, faces life sentence for killing his parents

Nick Reiner, Hollywood filmmaker Rob and Michele Reiner's son, won't face the death penalty after fatally stabbing his parents last year. If convicted, Nick would get a maximum sentence of life without the possibility of parole, LA County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said. "Nick has a serious mental illness and a long history of struggling with self-medication," said Reiner's attorney.
