Nicobar pigeon could help bring back dodo that went extinct 300 years ago
Nicobar pigeon, native to Andaman and Nicobar Islands and other parts of Southeast Asia, could help scientists bring back the dodo, that went extinct over 300 years ago. It's considered the dodo's closest living relative. US biotechnology company Colossal Biosciences announced progress towards this goal, using AI to identify genetic changes that may have shaped the dodo's distinctive appearance.
