Nifty metal index declines nearly 5%, erases all gains for 2026

Nifty metal index ended 549.30 points, or 4.81%, lower at 10,863.45 on Monday, erasing all its gains for the year. All 15 constituents of the index were trading in the red. Hindustan Copper was the biggest loser, falling by nearly 8.50%. Other major players like Hindustan Zinc, Jindal Steel, SAIL and NMDC also saw their shares fall by over 5%.
