Niger Junta appoints Ali Lamine Zeine as new transitional PM

Niger's military junta appointed economist Ali Lamine Zeine as the transitional prime minister following military coup that ousted President Mohamed Bazoum. The decree was created by General Abdourahmane Tchiani, the self-declared head of the transitional government and was read on national television on Monday. Zeine, 58, previously served as finance minister under Mamadou Tandja's government.
