Nirmala Sitharaman shares stats about 1975 Emergency that 'still shock India'

The X account of Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's office shared statistics about the 1975 Emergency that "still shock India". Around 8.13 million sterilisations were carried out in 1976-77, nearly 1.1 lakh people were detained, 35,000 were detained under MISA, and 48,500 abuse complaints were examined after Emergency, it claimed. This comes 51 years after the declaration of Emergency in 1975.
