No bridge, no safety: Solan village banks on rope, poles

In the absence of a bridge, iron poles and a ramshackle rope-suspended trolley have become the only means of crossing the Ashwani khud for residents of Shunnu Tikri village in Kandaghat subdivision of Solan district. With the monsoon swelling the stream, the perilous crossing has turned into a daily gamble, particularly for schoolchildren.
