No GST on papad, irrespective of shape: Tax body corrects Harsh Goenka on Twitter

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on Tuesday clarified that "papad, by whatever name known, is exempt from GST" and it isn't distinguished based on its shape. The tax body's response came after RPG Enterprises Chairman Harsh Goenka tweeted, "Did you know that a round papad is exempt from GST and a square papad attracts GST?"
