No need to see China as a model on rule of law: DY Chandrachud

Asked if China's growth model beats India's democracy, former CJI DY Chandrachud said on a podcast that there is "no need to look at China as aspirational" on the rule of law. He recalled a Chinese judge saying they want an efficient judiciary, not an independent one. India chose democracy in 1949 for the diverse population, he said.
