No proposal to scrap long-term capital gains tax on equities: Govt

While replying to a question in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said no proposal to scrap long-term capital gains (LTCG) tax on equities is currently under consideration. Capital gains taxes are reviewed periodically, he added. He further shared the revenue generated from LTCG tax on equities was ₹1.29 lakh crore in 2025-26, a 78% increase year-on-year.
