No specific request from US to send vessels to Hormuz: Japan amid rejection claims

Japan has denied reports that PM Sanae Takaichi "rejected" US President Donald Trump's request to send warships to Strait of Hormuz, adding that she didn't reject but refrained from commenting. "There has been no specific request from the US...for the dispatch of vessels," Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara said. "The English-language messaging...doesn't reflect...Japan's position," he added.
