Nobel Prize in Medicine awarded to Svante Pääbo for his discoveries on human evolution

The 2022 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Sweden's Svante Pääbo "for his discoveries concerning the genomes of extinct hominins and human evolution". Pääbo made the discovery of an extinct hominin, the Denisova, and found that gene transfer had occurred from extinct hominins to Homo sapiens. The Nobel Assembly said that Pääbo's discovery has physiological relevance.
