Nobel Prize remembers Robert Edwards as IVF births cross 12 mn

Nobel Prize remembered scientist Robert Edwards whose research on IVF has led to the birth of more than 12 million test tube babies. Edwards studied IVF to treat infertility outside the body and succeeded in fertilisation of human egg cells in test tubes. He collaborated with gynaecologist Patrick Steptoe and their research enabled fertilised eggs to form into early embryos.
