Nobel winner John Jumper leaves Google after 9 years to join Anthropic

John Jumper, VP at Google DeepMind, announced he is leaving the company after nearly 9 years to join Anthropic. Jumper and DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2024. "Hassabis took a real chance letting me lead the [DeepMind's] AlphaFold team just six months after finishing my PhD," Jumper said while announcing his exit.
