Not all private properties can be taken over by govt for 'common good': SC

A nine-judge bench, led by CJI DY Chandrachud, said not all private properties are material resources and hence cannot be taken over by states to subserve the "common good". "Private property may form 'material resource of community', but not every resource owned by an individual can be said to be material resource of community," the Constitution bench said.
