Not every insult to SC/ST person is atrocity under SC/ST Act: Calcutta HC

Calcutta HC ruled that not every insult involving an SC or ST community member amounts to an atrocity under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The complainant, an associate professor from SC community, alleged that a department head excluded him from decisions and used insulting language. The court held workplace disputes cannot automatically be treated as offences under the Act.
