Not possible to ban PoP Ganesh idols this year: Maha govt to HC

The Maharashtra government told the Bombay High Court it cannot ban Plaster of Paris (PoP) Ganesh idols for this year's Ganesh Chaturthi but will gradually phase them out. It sought continuation of the 2025 immersion policy, while assuring compliance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to promote clay idols. Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on September 14.
