NPCI builds internet-free UPI tap payments up to ₹2,000

NPCI is reportedly developing an offline UPI tap-to-pay feature that will allow payments of up to ₹2,000 without an internet connection. Using NFC technology and a pre-loaded UPI Lite wallet, users will be able to make secure payments on flights, underground trains, and other low-network locations, further expanding the convenience and reach of India's digital payment ecosystem.
