Nurses threaten mass resignations in Philippines amid COVID-19 surge

Nurses in the Philippines have staged protests and are threatening mass resignations if government benefits are not paid by September 1 amid rising coronavirus cases in the country. The government had set aside special risk allowances for healthcare workers at the beginning of the pandemic last year. However, healthcare worker unions allege that the promised allowances haven't been paid.
