NYC cancels $220mn migrant shelter deal with Pak's Roosevelt Hotel

New York City has terminated a $220 million deal with Pakistan government-owned Roosevelt Hotel, which had been sheltering migrants. Mayor Eric Adams cancelled the agreement amid US President Donald Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration and Make America Great Again (MAGA) supporters' protests against taxpayer money being used for migrant housing. The hotel was opened to migrants in 2023.
