Officer's transfer uncovers massive ₹54 crore GST fraud, 500 fake firms in Delhi

GST officer Babita Sharma's transfer from Ward 6 to Ward 22 of the GST office in 2021 uncovered a massive GST fraud to claim refunds worth ₹54 crore in Delhi. The fraud involved Sharma, three lawyers, two transporters, another accomplice and 500 fake companies. Following Sharma's transfer, several firms also applied for migration to Ward 22, leading to an investigation.
