Omicron-specific booster vaccine for COVID-19 launched

Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Saturday launched GEMCOVAC-OM, an Omicron-specific mRNA-based booster vaccine for COVID-19. Developed by Gennova Biopharmaceuticals, the vaccine recently got Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI). "Its unique feature is that this vaccine can be administered without a needle injection," said Singh.
