On-demand sunlight may become reality as US startup gets nod to launch mirrors in space

US-based Reflect Orbital has received US FCC's nod to launch its experimental satellite, Eärendil-1, which will help deliver sunlight on demand. Eärendil-1 will be equipped with a 60-foot square mirror that can redirect sunlight onto a circular area covering five kilometres. The technology will help extend daylight for solar farms to generate electricity and provide lighting during emergencies.
