Once 5th largest lake in Greece shrinks to 10th of its size

Koroneia Lake, once the fifth-largest lake in Greece, has shrunk to one-tenth its original size after a decade of low rainfall and over-irrigation. "We knew the lake in its good days, with fishermen, with plenty of water, a wonderful park...birds," a community head said. At present, the exposed lake bed is a ​vast cracked mud plain with patches of ponds.
