One-time expense: Govt on new labour codes lowering firms' profit

India’s IT services providers took a hit on profit margins in the December quarter on account of additional expenditure incurred due to new labour codes. These are "one-time expenses" due to the transition phase, a Labour Ministry official told Moneycontrol. "We must remember the codes were finalised…after due consultation from all stakeholders, including the industry," the official added.
