Online platforms failed age checks after Australia's teen social media ban: Study

A team of software testers in Australia found that online platforms did not ask for any age verification on nearly 50 accounts created after the country's ban of social media use by those under 16 came into effect. The study added that photo-based age estimation software relies on users' online activity, making it ineffective at identifying younger users for checks.
