Only 10 vaquita porpoises left on Earth, extinction alert issued

The International Whaling Commission (IWC) has issued an extinction alert for the endangered vaquita porpoise. The vaquita is a small porpoise found only in the Gulf of California, Mexico and there are about 10 surviving vaquita porpoises. They have been imperilled by illegal gill net fishing for an endangered fish called the totoaba, whose bladder is highly valued in Asia.
