Only 17 people remain poor in Chinese province with population of 8 crore
Only 17 people from six families remain poor in China's Jiangsu province which has a population of eight crore, government data showed. More than 99.99% of Jiangsu's 25.4 lakh poor people had been lifted out of extreme poverty, an official said. Absolute poverty is defined in China as per capita net income of 2,300 yuan (nearly ₹23,600).
