Govt issues statement after Nipah virus cases detected in WB

The Union Health Ministry said that only two confirmed cases of Nipah virus have been reported from West Bengal since December 2025. "A total of 196 contacts linked to the confirmed cases have been identified, traced, monitored, and tested,” the ministry said. It added that all the traced contacts have been found asymptomatic and have tested negative for Nipah Virus.
