Only 2 people in India know how to make voters’ indelible ink

Mysore Paints and Varnish Limited (MPVL) is the company allowed to manufacture voters’ ink. Even the director doesn’t know the formula - only 2 chemists working with MPVL know the recipe, and they pass it on to their successors when they retire. For Loksabha Elections 2024, the Election Commission has ordered 26.55L vials worth ₹55 crores from MPVL.
