Only agriculturists can purchase land in Himachal Pradesh: SC

Only agriculturists engaged in cultivation can purchase land in Himachal Pradesh and others will need state government's prior permission to purchase land in the state, the Supreme Court said. "The purpose is to save the small agricultural holdings of poor persons and also check rampant conversion of agricultural land," the SC said. Government expected to examine cases individually, it added.
