OpenAI, Anthropic can slowdown AI progress, no one's pointing gun: Vembu

AI-related fears of catastrophic outcomes are overstated, and a global pause in AI development is unlikely, Zoho Co-founder Sridhar Vembu said. Reacting to OpenAI and Anthropic's recent call for slowdown in pace of AI development, Vembu said, "They could slowdown themselves...Nobody is putting...gun to their head and saying, 'Innovate'." He urged government to invest in AI-related research.
